With a love of public spaces for all ages, I have led the design and implementation of several public space projects including;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cook Street Village Boulevard Park \u2013 Kitchen Garden @ Big Wheel Burger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A naturalized playground at Margaret Jenkins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Broad Street public gathering space: tangram inspired movable seating w Cascadia Architects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pemberton park public seating: community meeting space for the Gonzales neighbourhood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>H20: a public art and music collaboration through UVIC at Bastion Square<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Art in Vacant Storefronts: throughout downtown Victoria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Committee Work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Oak Bay Advisory Planning Commission<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oak Bay Climate Action Working Group<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community Association of Oak Bay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fairfield Gonzales Zoning and Planning Committee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>City of Victoria Advisory Design Panel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bastion Square Revitalization Committee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Downtown Victoria 2020 Public Spaces Working Group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advocacy Work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My advocacy work includes chairing the BC Chapter and Victoria Network of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, where I implemented an architects in schools program, leading youth in making the change they want to see in their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Climate Action<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I advocated to both SD 61 and the Municipality of Oak Bay to declare a climate emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have advocated for increased transit in Oak Bay, and specifically succeeded by petition to increase transit service to Harling Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am an avid cyclist and promote the benefits of cycling: mental and physical health and climate friendly transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I liaised with local businesses for donations and the City of Victoria to realize the reopening of the Chandler Gonzales Pathway and to provide a safe route to school for our local children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was on the Advisory Planning Commission for three years and the Climate Action Working Group, where I advocated for active transportation, legalizing duplexes and implementing the official community plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I volunteer whenever possible on architectural advisory and focus groups, including for Oak Bay\u2019s infill housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I design sustainable architecture. Our family home was the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum house in Victoria under the LEED for Homes program.
